Reports
I have prepared reports for matters that
include:
Internet Use - The police seized a
computer and subsequently charged a man with making indecent images. I
inspected the computer and prepared a report describing the Internet, access
to the Internet using web browser software and the operation of the web
browser cache when storing copies of images on the computer. This report
may be viewed and printed from the menu to the left under "Internet
Use".
File Deletion - The police seized
diskettes and other material and charged a man with making indecent
images. I prepared a report that showed that at least one diskette was
"second hand", that it is not possible to know the date a file was
deleted and that the Defendants computer could not write to a CD. This report may be
viewed and printed from the menu to the left under "File Deletion".
Technology - A serving police officer
was the subject of disciplinary proceedings after several officers received
racist documents via the police force internal mail service. I assisted
in the preparation of reports that discussed the large amount of technically
sophisticated computer evidence gathered and reported upon by prosecution
computer specialists. Reports for an internal inquiry and a subsequent
Employment Tribunal hearing included analysis of software generated log files
and attempts to recreate computer files that matched printed documents.
Inspect Computer Content - The police
seized several cable TV decoder boxes and a computer and produced a report
that described how allegedly incriminating software on the computer could have
been used to modify the cable TV boxes. I inspected the computer and
produced a report that described all of the content of the computer and
described the allegedly incriminating software in context. This report
may be viewed and printed from the menu to the left under "Inspect
Computer Content".
Faulty Operation - I inspected a four
desktop computers and their operation with an additional hardware component
where it was alleged that the computers had faults because they would not work
with the additional component. The report described the tests performed
and the operation of the component in each computer during these tests.
This report may be viewed and printed from the menu to the left under
"Test Computer Operation".
Disability Discrimination - I prepared a
report to show that the implementation of voice recognition software would
have been a reasonable step to assist a disabled person using a
computer. The report was for a disability discrimination hearing before
an Employment Tribunal. I gave evidence at the hearing for two days
including most of the second day under cross examination. An added
challenge was a tribunal chairman with a good working knowledge of computers
who insisted upon an exceptionally detailed explanation of almost everything.
Faulty Operation - I inspected a laptop
computer and reported upon its operation where it was alleged that the
computer was faulty.
Example reports can be selected from the list
below.
